How do you get to the float plane base that will bring you to Green Island Lodge? 

By Road:   You will find excellent highways to Fort Frances, Ontario.  Cross the border at International Falls, Minnesota.  Follow Highway 11 East through Fort Frances once you go through Canada Customs.  You will see a Rusty Myers road sign at the Eastern town limits on the right hand side of the highway shortly after you drive over a set of railroad tracks.  We are located on the shores of Sand Bay, Rainy Lake.   If you have reached the Causeway (a series of 3 bridges) you have gone too far!

By Air:  International Falls/Fort Frances is serviced by commercial airlines from most major U.S. cities.  Fly to International Falls by a connecter flight from Minneapolis, Minnesota.  After a short cab ride from the International Falls Airport, you will be dock side, at our float plane base and your adventure will begin with your flight to Green Island Lodge.

 

How do you get to Green Island Lodge? 

 Your fishing trip will begin and end with Rusty Myers Flying Service in Fort Frances, Ontario. The Manitou where Green Island Lodge is located, and the surrounding area, have been declared Wilderness Reserves, therefore you can reach Green Island Lodge only by float equipped aircraft.

Float Plane Reservations: Both the lodge and Rusty Myers Flying Service share the same office, year round.   We will be happy to make the necessary flight arrangements in accordance with your arrival time at the base. Please keep in mind that weather is not predictable: Please allow us ample time to connect with your scheduled air line flights.

RUSTY MYERS AIRCRAFT

Cessna Caravans the newest aircraft added to Rusty Myers fleet. The caravan is proven itself to be a most reliable and versatile aircraft. You will  experience the ultimate flight experience in these airplanes, AGK & KSJ.

 

The Twin Beech 18 has been used in the military in WWII as bomber trainers. Rusty Myers has two working Beech 18 's. When starting these aircraft listen to the "purr" or "rumble" of these fantastic aircraft. ZRI & RPL are Rusty's Beech aircraft.

The Beaver, De Havilland DHC-2 is known to be the workhorse of the North. Rusty Myers is the proud owner of the oldest working Beaver Serial Number 3. C-FOBT is the registration number of this aircraft. Rusty Myers has two operating Beavers, the other Beaver is Serial Number 13. Lucky for Rusty Myers!

65 air miles north of Fort Frances/ International Falls, glistens a magical invitation to Northwestern Ontario's Wilderness:  Upper Manitou Lake.  A half-hour float plane flight, plus taxiing time, will welcome you to shores of The Upper Manitou.  This flight will be one of the highlights of a great fishing experience. 

When the float plane arrives at the dock, you will be welcomed  to  Green Island Lodge.

Green Island Lodge

This is a basic layout of Green Island Lodge. There are walkways that bring you from your private cabin to the lodge. Attached to the lodge is the Doctor's Lounge where you can unwind . There are card tables and a bar complete with a variety of mixes, ice, and glasses. There is satellite TV..an ideal setting to swap tales, make new friends or renew old aquaintances.
